University Course Accreditation
The RACI works in partnership with higher education institutions to ensure their chemical science programs are of a professional and high-quality standard. This partnership aims to ensure their students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to be a practising chemist.
The revised RACI accreditation process is based upon the threshold learning and teaching outcomes standards statements for chemistry. The standards are based upon the Australian Learning & Teaching Council published Learning & Teaching Academic Standards Statement for Science.
Learning outcomes: The set of knowledge, skills and/or competencies a person has acquired and is able to demonstrate after completion of a learning process. In the Australian qualifications framework (AQF) these are expressed in terms of knowledge, skills and application.
Threshold: Minimum standard of achievement or attainment. The process includes:.
- Core knowledge - principles and concepts of chemistry.
- Core practical skills - recognised methods and appropriate practical techniques and tools that underpin these principles and concepts.
