Queensland Branch

Welcome to the Qld Branch of the RACI. Our committee is very active in bringing regular activities and events to our members, as well as reaching out to the wider community around the state.

QLD Branch Committee Nominations 2022

Our groups

We have established a number of specialist interest groups and sections within our Branch. Each one encourages networking and events between members who have a particular area of interest, and to engage with the wider chemistry community to participate. We'd love you to be involved.

These groups comprise:

• Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Group

  • With members from industry, government and academia, the Analytical group offers a wide range of events such as the 2019 "Emergency Plans and Where to Find Them" series of events. More events are planned.

• Chemical Education Group

  • In QLD the Chem Ed Group looks after the schools-based annual activities such as the Crystal Growing and Titration Competitions and the O'Donnell lecture series. The National Competitions for Crystal Growing and Titration are coordinated via representatives from QLD.

• Sections based group

  • The three QLD Sections (Central, North and Far North) represent QLD outside of the Brisbane area and hold regular events such as the Titration Competition for school students (in conjunction with the Chem Ed Group). The North QLD Section also takes part in the annual Women's Breakfast.

• Polymer Group

  • The Polymer Group offer a range of free or low cost events, including student members, such as a series of lectures from international speakers and an annual student symposium.

• Early Career Chemists (formerly Young Chemists) Group

  • The ECC Group run informal social events and careers-based events for students of all ages and chemists at the start of their career. Resume workshops and Careers events are also held annually.

Regular events

The QLD Branch also holds regular events, such as social events, the annual AGM and social night and the Queensland Annual Chemistry Symposium (QACS).
